Mark Aheong Kaili-aloha Kauwe, 49, of Kaneohe, a Shiatsu by Mark owner and shiatsu therapist, died in Kailua. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Leanne; sons Shane, Justin and Ian; brothers John and Steward; sisters Yolanda-Leimomi Miyahana and Kimberlyn Sakai. Services: noon Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kaneohe Stake Center, 46-117 Halaulani St. Call after 8:30 a.m. Burial: 2 p.m. at the Hawaiian Memorial Park. Aloha attire.

This is my first cousin Mark. Mark's mom and my mom are sisters. It was a shock when I heard of his passing and I still cry sometimes when I think about him and his family. Anyways, our families were close. The Serrao Sisters and their families spent most of our holidays, and of course graduation season together. Whether it be celebrating Christmas or selling leis, staying up late playing cards or completing a puzzle, eating ono food or playing music, it was tradition.

I was asked to record my self and share a memory of Mark to be played, but with technical difficulties I was not able to share mine(I think). Now here are my random thoughts that I will now share on my blog. Mark was sly, funny and even caring....he was rough around the edges, and he told it like it was. He seemed to enjoy seeing everyones reaction to a smell that he would cause. Mark had a smirk showing everyone that he was up to something. He genuinely cared for me as I came to Utah to go to school, but never continued in massage. Mark kept me in check when it came to my massage license (that I did not get). I loved listening to Mark sing, especially when he sang with Annie. Mark is very talented...and persistent. Mark is great...a great husband, father, son, nephew....and cousin. I will miss him. It's so good to have the gospel in our lives and that we know that Families are forever. I will miss you Mark. Love you tons and all my love to the family. I wish I could have been there.

GETTING TOGETHER FOR NICKY'S BIRTHDAY

Tonight I was able to go to L and Ls for Nicky's surprise get together to celebrate her 32nd Birthday. So young she is. Maiki and Allyson came from Ogden and Lani, Kia and I from around Salt Lake. Of course Raul and Livy were there too. There were a few others that we were hoping would be there, but they had to work. It was a nice little gathering ....good food and good company. Nicky shared with us some great news (well actually Leilani did) in that she is expecting. Here is a photo of the ladies:

well at least I liked it. Kia did not care for the laulau, I thought was ono. I ordered the Laulau and Chicken Katsu.


So here is Lani and Maiki enjoying their food, Lani had the kal-bi and barbecue chicken and Maiki had the Laulau and Kalua Pig.

CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES

So I know that I haven't been the best blogger and I am trying to catch up and it's all kapakahi, so you have Valentines before Christmas and then I have food in between that, but hey, better late then never right? So Christmas was spent at West Point with Micah's cousin. We got there Christmas Eve and stayed till Christmas Day. Christmas Day Night to the Day after Christmas was spent at my cousin's house in Orem. Anyway we have only photos from Christmas Eve as we opened some gifts, of course this was following some good food. I am sorry that there is not much to say, but mind you it was four months ago and I will try to be better with coming events.
So here are photos of PJ and Josh opening some gifts the night of Christmas Eve....actually I am thinking it was after midnight....so technically it was Christmas.

Micah opened one of his gifts which I believe was some stuff for the kitchen and a cook book. You know he runs the kitchen, and I enjoy what he makes. Cooking food is one of his passions.

Here is a photo of Leah in the middle of everyone's gifts. This is probably one of our favorite photos of her. We think she looks like a lady, rather than a little girl. So cute she is.

FOOD, FOOD, FOOD

So much for trying to blog more frequently since I have a little more time on my hand, but hey I am back to share what I came across. To those who are from Hawaii and are now living elsewhere one of the things we do miss besides our family and maybe the beach is the....FOOD....meaning ono local grinds. And I being the mean person that I am would visit Hawaii take photos of the food with my phone and send it to my friends in Utah that would appreciate and of course covet the food that I was about to partake. Well I started a little collection of photos. Some were taken in Hawaii, some in Utah at local gatherings or Kanikapila potlucks of some sort, or even at restaurants. I have taken some of the photos and framed them and that is what I use to decorate my kitchen or dining room.

Anyways, I found the file and now I get to post it on the blog. These were all taken on my phone. I need to start taking photos of the food that Micah cooks and start taking photos with a camera, so hopefully from now on I will do that. I hope this makes your mouth water or maybe you will just get hungry. Either way I hope you enjoy
